We are proud to be exhibiting in both the Main Section, and presenting a solo showcase in the gallery LAB section. The Main Section will feature works by Ley Mborwamwe, João Ladeira, Nina Holmes and Ibrahim Khatab. In the Gallery LAB section we present a solo by LegakwanaLeo Makgekgene.
Our presentation at FNB Art Joburg is celebration of pan-African creative expression, showcasing artists from Botswana, Congo, South Africa, Angola and Egypt. The work is diverse in conceptual and thematic grounding but cohesive as a collection of works because there is a focus on exploring painting textures and colour. Aiming to encourage innovation, the 2020 Gallery LAB has challenged artists to reimagine their work presentation in augmented reality (A/R). The work created by Makgekgenene thus reflects on the new dimensions available and expands on imaginings in these times and beyond. FNB Art Joburg is working with A/R artist Xopher Wallace to realize their A/R installations, which will be hosted on the fair’s Instagram page for the duration of the fair.
