Dark Matter
Eclectica Contemporary is honoured to present Dark Matter – a solo presentation by visual artist Lars Fisherdick. Having exhibited on numerous occasions with Eclectica contemporary and globally, Fischedick requires no introduction into the visual art realm. Drawing inspiration from scientific knowledge, his most recent series, titled Dark Matter, showcases the architect turned sculptor’s haptic exploration into materiality and the unknown.
Dark Matter is an extension into the artist’s fascination with the invisible force holding the material world together, not solely in a spiritual way, but also through scientific and astrophysical observations. “I have always looked at the world in wonder, asking myself, what else might be around and between us, beyond our visual and intellectual understanding.” For Fishedick dark matter carries the potential to change and alter current views and consciousness to an extent that turns the world upside down.
The artist further explains “we are travelling so far beyond our imagination, yet not fully grasping what really is around us here on Earth” In Fishedick’s artistic practice, he unconventionally uses his axe not in a destructive way, but rather as a tool to excavate, explore and uncover materiality of everyday objects and environments.
